GPRS Services

GPRS stands for General Packet Radio Service, it allows you to connect your PC to the internet using your mobile phone at higher capacity, internet-based content and packed-based data services, with GPRS you are "always on" , you can make or receive calls while browsing the web.

Internet

KOREK subscribers are able to take part in a live chat and view their SMS on public TV-channels,  messages will appear on TV message bar at the bottom of the screen. Messages are sent in two languages; Arabic and English, all messages with political, religious, racism or profanity content are filtered.

WAP

Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is simply a protocol - standardized way for delivering internet data over wireless networks.
WAP allows you to access internet on your mobile phone in a better way.

MMS

Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is a new standard in mobile messaging. Like SMS (Short Messaging Service), MMS is a way to send a message from one mobile phone to another.
The difference is that MMS can not just include text, but also sound, image and video. It is also possible to send MMS messages from a mobile phone to an email address. Formats that can be embedded within MMS include:

  • Text (formatted with fonts, colors, etc.)
  • Images (JPEG, GIF format)
  • Audio (MP3, MIDI)
  • Video (WAV, MPEG)
  • Combination of the above

EDGE

Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution (EDGE) is a powerful enhancement to the radio technology used by General Packet Radio Service.
EDGE dramatically improves data throughput rates and network capacity, while providing full backward-compatibility for devices and applications.

Service activation

There are two ways to activate this service:

  • using short code (9595) to activate internet service for your mobile as flat rate subscription by $10.0 / week
  • using short code (9191) to activate internet, WAP and MMS services by once payment  $1.0 for 6 month as prepaid subscription based on the following table rates

$0.01 per 20 KB

2.)

WAP

$0.01 per 20 KB
$0.10 for less than 100 KB

3.)

MMS

$0.15 between 100 KB - 200 KB
$0.20 between 200 KB - 300 KB 

Note

  • by sending 3 MMSs, the fourth one is free
  • from 1:00 AM midnight to 8:00 AM morning the Internet, WAP and MMS service rates will be:

$0.01 per 20 KB
$0.04 for less than 100 KB

3.)

MMS

$0.06 between 100 KB - 200 KB
$0.08 between 200 KB - 300 KB
